MAN Diesel & Turbo in Oberhausen
How I arrived at MAN
I applied in the normal way, completed a recruitment test and was then invited to interview. I had actually applied as an industrial mechanic. It's just that there were no apprenticeship positions available. MAN then told me that they didn't want to send good people away and offered me a apprenticeship position as a cutting machine operator. I was delighted.
What I currently do at MAN
On site in Oberhausen we produce compressors and expanders as well as steam and gas turbines. Steam and gas turbines are used, for example, to generate electricity. Our geared compressors are used in the oil and gas industries. My task here is to produce components for these products very precisely and in accordance with the drawings.
What I am particularly proud of
I am really proud to have a job at MAN Turbo & Diesel and want to stay here until I retire. It's just a great feeling to be able to work for a global company and tell others about this.
Why I like working at MAN:
I get up every morning with a smile on my face because I like coming to work for MAN. I have great colleagues here and an exciting job. It is never boring. There are always lots of new challenges and my work is very varied.
