Are you fascinated by the technology in modern vehicles and are rarely without a spanner in your hand? Then a career as an automotive mechatronics engineer could be perfect for you. During your apprenticeship at MAN, you will learn everything there is to know about servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics work on commercial vehicles.

As an automotive mechatronics engineer, you will be working on planning, maintaining, testing, diagnosing and repairing vehicles and systems. You will fit, modify and retrofit linked mechatronic systems, which are characterised by a complex interaction between electronic and mechanical components.

During your apprenticeship

You will learn how to

  • Operate, test, maintain and adjust vehicles and systems
  • Take measurements
  • Assemble, disassemble and repair components, component groups and systems
  • Diagnose faults, errors and their causes, and assess the results
  • Fit, modify and retrofit commercial vehicles and their systems
  • Plan and manage workflows
  • Monitor and evaluate the results of the work
  • Apply quality assurance measures
  • Inspect commercial vehicles in accordance with the provisions of the Highway Code
  • Identify what must be mentioned when communicating with the customer and during vehicle handover

Duration of apprenticeship

Your apprenticeship will last 3.5 years. If you have a corresponding higher education qualification or you perform very well, you can shorten the duration of the apprenticeship.
