MAN Careers: Production mechanic apprenticeship

Train in the best company: As a prospective production mechanic, you will be on the go as part of an assembly team, learning how to assemble and produce goods for industrial mass production. This is important so that the production processes are not interrupted. You will also check that the results of the work meet quality standards and you will be required to make your own suggestions for improvement.

As a production mechanic, you will predominantly be working on assembling and producing goods for industrial mass production. You will mainly perform your professional tasks within the framework of a process chain in assembly teams. You will be directly involved in process safety, observing quality standards and continual improvement measures.

During your apprenticeship, you will learn how to:

  • Apprenticeship, employment law and collective bargaining law
  • The structure and organisation of the apprenticeship company
  • Safety and occupational health in the workplace
  • To set up machines and technical systems
  • To manufacture components using manual and mechanical cutting procedures
  • To manufacture join connections
  • To plan and organise work
  • Internal and technical communication
  • To assemble and disassemble components and component groups
  • To assemble, connect and test electric and electronic components and component groups
  • To test and adjust the functions of component groups or complete products
  • To monitor and optimise assembly and disassembly processes
  • To conduct quality assurance measures

Duration of apprenticeship:

Your apprenticeship will last 3 years. If you have a corresponding higher education qualification or you perform very well, you can shorten the duration of the apprenticeship.

  • School leaving certificate with a qualification (for Bavaria) (Qualifizierender Hauptschulabschluss)
  • School leaving certificate (for Lower Saxony) (Hauptschulabschluss)
